Frequently Asked Questions
What is The Computing Directory?
The Computing Directory is exactly that: a computing directory. This is an advanced yet easy-to-use
directory for computing-related sites.
Who started The Computing Directory?
The award-winning web and multimedia design agency
Texelate
started The Computing Directory to give the online community an easy-to-use one-stop shop to find all the computing sites
they need.
Will it cost me to list my site?
No.
What makes The Computing Directory different from other directories?
This directory is computing-specific and uses categories and tags that are continually updated and optimised to
make computing-related sites easier to find. Standard directories use a more generic infrastructure and are
less geared toward computing sites. Furthermore, The Computing Directory allows its users to submit categories and tags
so it never stops growing and evolving to the computing industry.
Can I advertise on The Computing Directory?
There are currently no adverts on The Computing Directory but there will be in future. If you are interested in advertising
please
get in touch.
Do I have to submit personal information when adding or modiying a site?
No. All data is sent to The Computing Directory anonymously.
Can someone else list my site?
Yes. Users can submit informations to add a new listing or modify an existing one without the site owner's permission. This
is part of the collaborative ethos The Computing Directory.
Can I submit more than one page from a site?
The Computing Directory only links to home pages, not the pages on a site. For this reason you can submit subdomains
but not individual pages. So www.domain.com and subdomain.domain.com would be fine by www.domain.com/folder/page.html would
not.
What if someone wants to update my site with erroneous information?
All information sent to The Computing Directory is subject to strict moderation. The Computing Directory moderators will use
their industry knowledge to remove anything untoward. If anything slips through the net simply click the red Report link under a
listing and let our moderators know.
What sites can be listed on The Computing Directory?
Any computing-related sites that don't contain any offensive content: pornography, gambling, violence, et ceterea. If you see
any offensive content click the red Report link under a listing and let our moderators know.
Can I remove a site from The Computing Directory?
If a site has been added and it is computing-related and does not contain any offensive content you cannot remove a site.
What is the difference between a Standard listing and an Enhanced listing?
A Standard listing is inaccessible by search engines whereas an Enhanced listing is not. Although both entries are free
the Enhanced listing requires a reciprocal link back to Texelate and The Computing Directory.
How can I help The Computing Directory?
You can help in lots of ways by adding new sites, updating existing site and generally spreading the word about
The Computing Directory
